Do I need a care plan?

No. Every build stands on its own and you own it outright — a care plan is never a condition of a build. It is worth it when you would rather have monitoring and a monthly allowance of updates than quote each piece separately, and we will tell you honestly which side of that line you are on.

Reviewed October 6, 2026. Care plans are the one published price: Harbor $45, Voyage $119, Flagship $159 a month at /care-plans. Builds are quoted per project.

The short answer

A care plan is optional upkeep, not a subscription to your own website. Your site works, and stays yours, whether you ever join a plan or not. The question is only whether you want someone checking it monthly — and we will answer that honestly rather than sell you something you do not need.

When a plan pays for itself

When you would want monthly updates anyway: fresh content, security patches, a monthly analytics readout, or a hard-capped allowance of new work (one page or article a month on Voyage, plus integration upkeep and fair-use edits on Flagship). Monitoring also catches the expensive surprises — an expired domain, a down site — before your customers do.

When it does not

A static site that changes once a year is often cheaper to maintain as fixed-price pieces: no monthly meter, no allowance to think about. If nothing is broken and nothing changes, the honest answer is to skip the plan — and we will say that, because a plan you do not need is a bill you did not have to pay.

The honest test

Ask one question: will I want someone checking this site every month? If yes, the plan is probably worth it and the caps are in writing. If no, do not join. Either way, the build is the same, the ownership is the same, and the price of the build does not move.

Questions

What is a care plan?

A fixed monthly plan that keeps a live website healthy: uptime and domain-expiry monitoring, security and content updates, and — on the two higher plans — a measured amount of new work each month. The allowance is written down, so the ceiling is real.

How much does a care plan cost?

Harbor is $45 a month, Voyage is $119 and Flagship is $159. Every plan states what is included, and extra human work is $40 an hour, quoted before it starts. There is no contract — start, pause or cancel at any month boundary.

Do I pay you anything after launch?

No. There are no retainers and no maintenance fee. What you pay afterwards is whatever your domain and hosting cost, paid to those providers directly, in your name.
