Can I edit my website myself?

Yes — text and images, if you are comfortable in code, and the handover document shows you where everything lives. If you would rather not touch it, edits are quoted as small fixed-price pieces, or we add a simple editor for the parts that change often, such as prices or a menu.

Reviewed October 6, 2026. Prices are quoted per project; nothing on this page is a published price list.

The short answer

You own the source, so you can edit anything. Whether you should depends on what changes and how often: a one-word price change is a different job from a new page. We match the edit route to the job, and we say so in the handover document, which lists every account, password and file.

Three ways to make an edit

Yourself, in code — text and images are plain files, and the handover document shows you where they live. As a fixed-price piece — we quote the edit before touching anything, so a small change is a small invoice. Through a simple editor — we add a small editing interface for the parts that change often, such as prices, a menu or a services list, scoped so it cannot break the page.

What we recommend

If you change prices or a menu weekly, ask for the editor when we scope the build — it is cheaper built in than bolted on. If the site changes a few times a year, fixed-price pieces cost less than a plan and keep the code clean. If you code and enjoy it, take the files and go.

Why not a page builder

A builder gives you a dashboard and takes the source: platform fees, a lock-in, and pages that load slower because the platform loads first. We would rather give you three honest edit routes and keep the site yours — read custom vs. builders for the full trade-off.

Questions

Do I own the code?

Yes. Your site is hand-written HTML, CSS and JavaScript, and you own the source. There is no proprietary page builder, no licence to keep paying, and nothing that stops another developer picking it up.

What is not included?

Running costs are separate and usually small: your domain renewal, hosting, and any paid service you choose. The quote names them so nothing appears after launch. Optional work later — new pages, integrations, ongoing SEO — is quoted as its own fixed-price piece.

Will a simple editor slow the site?

It is scoped to the fields that change, so the page still renders its content without it — the editor is the enhancement, not the mechanism. We agree what it covers in the quote before anything is built.

Tell us what you need. Send a few rough lines and we will come back with a scope, a fixed price and a delivery date in writing.
